Hi Gloria,

Sorry to hear your friend is having such a hard time of things. It is wonderful she has someone like you to try and help her get her bathroom fixed. Many are living in hard times in this once great country of ours, and no one should have to face such hardship alone. I am not sure any of these will help under the current circumstances that you have outlined, however, they may help in the long run.

You and your friend are in my prayers.

~ Kit

Hello. I am helping a very good friend out by helping raise money for her bathroom floor. Her bathroom is so moldy and the floor ready to fall through at any time. She has Luekemia (spelling?) and has been in & out of the hospital several times this year & last. (Her husband died of cancer last year) The hospital told her severl times she needs to get it fixed. There's no money at all for her to get it fixed. She is back to work 15 hours per week but ends up getting sick from all the other employee's illness' and ends up having to leave work for days. I did help her get on food stamps and tried to get her on ssi/disability. She was denied because they stated her cancer was "curable."

I have been trying to get non-profit organizations and merchants in my county/state to help her out. Every single place said NO! Except one: Tillamook RV said they would fix the floor for free if we paid for the material. He gave us an estimate of $1,100.00. So far, we have raised $0.00. I am trying to get a yard sale going but no one in my community will donate items. I feel like giving up but know I can't. She really needs help. Even the American cancer Society says they cannot help.

Could you please send me information about local agencies that can help? I have tried all of Tillamook County and Oregon state facilities. They say they don't help outside their counties and Tillamook agencies says she has to be 65 and older before they would help her. (She's in her 50's)

Thank you for your time!
