Hello my name is Amanda joann Hamilton and Im a 34 year old mother of three that went through breast cancer 4 years ago and so far i am in remission and very thankful for it. However the Chemo and radiation treatments took a horriable tole on my teeth and i have no means of being able to have them fixed. I have had a few taken out here and there and yes I’ve even taken out a few myself. My whole mouth hurts a good magority of the time and I am really in need of some type of assitance. please find it in your heart to try and help me. But if you cant i will understand and sure pray God will continue to bless the work you all are doing.

I have a sister who was diagnoses with ready cancer at age 34. She has been in remission for the last 3 years, but doctors recently found a spot on her thigh. She is scared to death and doesn’t know how she will be able to face this next round in her life. The chemo has taken an awful toll on her once-beautiful smile. She has lost all self confidence and hope. I’m asking anyone who has any dental experience to please consider her as a potential patient. She has no insurance and really no way of paying for all the work she needs. I have a big God and I know He is in control and can provide a way. Please if this story touches you in any way to help, know you would be an answer to her prayer! Thank you for reading!!
    Brooke (a loving sister)

Hi my name is Jennifer and I have stage 4 breast cancer. I’ve already had to have a double radical mastectomy with the removal of 18 lymphnods and have very bad front and back teeth. I can’t smile and I can’t chew the proper foods I need to be healthy and fight off the cancer. I have lost all of what little self esteem that I had left and dignity also. I don’t have any money from all the surges and treatments, gas from having to drive from Alvarado Texas to Tulsa Oklahoma to the cancer treatment centers of America twice a month for treatment( right now it’s hormone therapy ( hormone blockers). It’s taking every dime we have to keep afloat and make our house payment and other bill and my health INS is $323.00 a month with no money left for my teeth. My health could be better if I could fix the teeth that I do have left. Because of my mastectomy and my ugly teeth, I’ve lost all my self esteem and now it’s also jeopardizing my marriage. I don’t want to be looked at, kiss or even be touched because I feel so ugly and gross.and on top of it all it’s put me into a deep depression. I don’t Like to even dress up anymore fearing that it will draw attention to my face and body. If there is any dentist in or near my area, I pray that one will find it in his or her heart to help me to be the woman I once was. I never had breast reconstruction and never will, it’s something that can be hidden but ur teeth cannot be they r the first thing a person loons at and I feel that they and all the cancer treatments I’ve endured have made me look like I’ve aged at least 20 yrs older than I am and I am only 39.if there is a person who could help me and what ever help I can give you in return for your gracious help.I really really want to be happy and not be depressed anymore and be able to eat good foods and smile at my husband again. Thank u for raking the time to read this and god bless you all, thank you and I pray that there is someone who can help me, thanks again, Jennifer my contact # is 817-933-3405 call at anytime day or evening!! Leave a mess if I don’t pick up in time thanks again jennifer

I too have had to go through hell the past year and a half….blood transfusions, chemo, double masectomy, radiation, expansion…. And of course on top of all that, all of my teeth are splitting and falling apart. I stopped thinking about the fairness of all of this especially now that the govt has decided I need to find a way to pay for everything on my own. Exactly how do i do this when I cannot work full time and everything I had is gone from paying what insurance doesnt cover. My teeth are holding on for dear life, but my face swells, there is constant pain and the absolute knowledge that very soon, my front teeth are going to literally fall out of my head. Yes, I have held on to as much of my vanity as I can, but this is just my breaking point. Anyone in the Mid -Illinois area, or ANYWHERE in Illinois that knows where I can get help, please let me know: or 309-340-2267……thank you

I went n looked at the Donated Dental Site because I am trying to find help for a co-worker friend. She is a 36 yr old Thyroid Cancer survivor who’s teeth are ruined due to radiation therapy. I am posting to ask a question and hopefully stir some people to rethink the way we look at charity. I noticed the qualifications for the donated dental association stated the following:

One must lack adequate income to pay for dental care and be:
    Permanently disabled or
    Medically at-risk or
    65 years old or older

But here’s the thing – these people listed above should be receiving disability checks, Medicaid or Medicare, and/or retirement. Considering that living expenses decrease in most cases, I do not understand why we focus efforts on this group rather than those who are (like my friend), working one it two jobs or more to make ends meet, living on their own, with no family support? In my friends case, her mother is dead (of cancer) n her father does nothing for her! She is not laying on her rump claiming diability bc she can work but even with two jobs she can’t get ahead when you have $9000 in dental expenses because you wake up with all your bottom front teeth having fallen out while u slept, the temp filling (that the dentist keeps trying to patch for u bc he knows u can’t afford a crown) coming out every few months, n even with paying for a discount dental plan, each crown is still $500! Everyone I talk with about charity help always says they want to help those who are doing their best to help themselves, but in most cases, that’s not what we do! So, if u agree with me n know of any real help for my friend, PLEASE email me at I am giving her what I can and am covering one crown for her but she currently has two other cracked teeth n another one needing a crown so any help is appreciated. Godbless.

    Hi Wendy!

I hear you! I too went rhough thyroid cancer and radiation treatment and am stuggling with the same issues as your friend. I need major dental work and can’t afford it. I don’t qualify for assistance because I’m not under 18 or older than 55. I’ve done alot of research and still have no answers. God bless you for helping her! I rarely smile any more but will keep looking for help and will post if I find anything.

  16. michele February 24, 2013 at 5:21 pm #

    Dear Wendy and Laura,
My adult daughter is in the same situation, thyroid cancer and now her top four teeth are missing. She has a young son; all our finances are now exhausted. I’ve been doing tons of research and one option is to go to Tijuana, if you are in California. Cost is about 20 percent of what it is here. Of course, that still means you need money. I’ve raised about $1200 so far through but the site is being shut down in 10 days by new owners. Something similar may appear to replace it, though. If you want any Tijuana referrals, just post here and I’ll respond.

  18. Sarah Patrick February 24, 2013 at 11:07 pm #

Hello, My name is Sarah. I am a cancer survivor of non-hodgekins lymphoma. It has been 10 years. However, as grateful as I am, my life has changed completely. My ex left me during treatments and when we divorced sent bad checks for my health insurance. I have lost most of my teeth and have large medical bills due to an immune deficiency. I raised my four boys alone and now that they are grown, I am attending college to acquire a bachelors in Early Childhood education. I try to make payments, but as an ECE educator only make 8,75 an hour at a Lutheran School. I can’t even smile as much as I used to and always have infections in my mouth from the radiation in my head and neck. Every dentist I go to always seem bothered by my issues and do just enough, but not enough. State funded facilities only remove teeth but everything else is considered cosmetic. Most of my teeth have already been removed. I am very upset my oncologist did not warrent other medications to prevent this aching, embarrassing problem. I am 52 and really need some help.

    Thank you …Sarah Patrick

Eating is now a problem because of no bottom teeth and because the radiation damaged my esophogus and I can not eat solid foods. Every six weeks I go in for dialation so I can eat soft foods. Have also lost a lot of upper teeth, As a survivor I would love to smile. Is there a dentist that can help.

I am a oral face neck patient a stage 4 survivor i lost all my teeth due to the recontruction and to the radiaton and chemo. I have done research in every area of my journey. I cannot find any help to get help to get teeth replaced. Something needs to change for csncer patients. A woman looses her breast she can get fake boobs paid for. Your teeth are very inportant not just cosmetic but for nutritent purposes. I feel so pissed at our nation for all the crap they pay out for and the millions of people who survive cancer want to eat please do something for the cancer survivors.

I cant believe all that I have read here. I am a STAGE 4 Breast Cancer survivor of 6 years, I had chemotherapy very strong. I thought I was the only one that was struggling with my teeth being bad. I have had a few teeth pulled here and there but I cant afford dental insurance and I cant afford to get my teeth pulled. I can’t believe that there is not help out there somewhere to help cancer survivors that have had chemo or radiation. I am still on the look out for someone to help. I am tired of being in constant pain because of my teeth. If any of you know any websites or help email me. I live in Oklahoma. Thank you and God Bless!!!!

  33. Jaclyn Nave September 25, 2013 at 8:53 pm #

My name is Jaclyn Nave, and I was contacting you today to see if there were any organizations or government programs that helped people who cannot afford the high cost of dental work. I went 3 rounds with cervical cancer and the medications and constant illness massacred my teeth. Now at 30 years old, I am in horrific pain daily and have trouble eating, as well as, the complete embarrassment and lack of confidence along with many other issues. I have been cancer free for 3 years now, have a good job but no dental insurance, and cannot afford the high cost of treatment. There are no dentists, that I have found, that will even entertain the idea of payments. I am at such a loss here, as are so many others. I have searched the internet and have found no promising leads. Due to past medical bills, I do not qualify for credit care or any other credit cards. Please do not mistake me for someone who thinks that the world owes me, or a “woe is me” type of person. I just need help on this and would be more than happy and willing to pay in installments that I can afford, if I could just find a way to be able to get my teeth fixed. I am also willing to give out so much more than I am given, and pay it forward to others in need. Please let me know if there is help out there for people in my situation. Thank you for all you do. God Bless. Sincerely, Jackie
I sent this email to several people in the dental field. The responses I received were to contact you and see if there was any help of any kind for survivors. I am sure this is a long shot but at this point, I am willing to try anything. I am more than will to pay for help in installments that I can afford or even volunteer my time in return. Anything. The medications, constant illness, and the acid that caused on my teeth did a number on my teeth. I praise God for being a 3-year survivor and giving me my beautiful daughter, who is my miracle, the doctors are still baffled, and saying it was nearly impossible for me to conceive let alone have a successful pregnancy and birth. I also lost my Dad on February 15th to esophical cancer that he had only be diagnosed with 5 days before his passing, and then lost my Mom 12 days later. Therefore, after all that, money is extremely tight and I do not know where else to turn. If you could even lead me in a direction of hope, I would appreciate it so very much. God Bless you and thank you for all you do for those whose lives have been impacted by this horrible disease. Sincerly, Jaclyn Nave

  34. Jaclyn September 26, 2013 at 2:04 am #

I have searched everywhere all over the internet I sent a hundred seventeen emails in one day and all the responses are the same there is no help out there for people like us it is sad and this must change this is ridiculous we didn’t deprive our teeth not brushing them. these issues came from our medications in our illness in itself. I Am not a the world owes me person but it would be like it’d be nice to know that there is help out there when it’s needed when its really needed. if anybody has any ideas or any ways that we can change this and help others in our condition then something needs to be done so let’s pull together and make this change. I thank God that I am a 3 year survivor but that still doesn’t save my teeth and I know there’s so many of you out there that are in way more need that I am.

  35. Christine Cranendonk November 6, 2013 at 12:43 pm #

Hello! My name is Christine. I had breast cancer 3 years ago and underwent surgery, chemo and radiation. The ‘cure’ was terrible, but I am here and I thank God every day! Like so many, my treatment took a terrible toll on my teeth, which I have always taken very good care of! I think that matters were made worse because I had a terrible allergic reaction to my chemo just before my last treatment. I am in desperate need of major dental work, I do not have the month-have been turned down for loans and have no where to turn! I have already lost all my upper teeth and have a terrible-fitting upper denture. I am now being told that my lower teeth either need to be pulled and get a denture or repaired with bridges, root canals, and implants! I want to try to save what I can of my bottom teeth because I know that lower dentures are very difficult. I am completely at a loss! Top all of this with the fact that my prescriptions cost me a fortune for me and my domestic partner who had quadruple by-pass surgery in June, 2013. He was uninsured and his hospital bill alone is charging us $130,000.00! Unfortunately, he has been without an income for the last two years except for his social security survivor death benefits. I am praying that someone will be able to look into their hearts and help me with this. I am too young to have all dentures and I am doing the best that I can. I thank you for your consideration and may God Bless you…or whomever you believe in.

July 2010 i was diagionsed with CML lekuemia i undergo chemo everyday and lost all but 15 teeth and i really feel for those people who are in the same boat but i live in colorado and cant seem to find any dentist that will be considerant enough to help out someone in need i need upper and lower implant but i am on disability and no work no one wants to hire someone without teeth for customer service or anything so i am pleading with any dentist in colorado to help myself and also others that want to have a life too.. See i will say this [people who suffer and are fighting to survive the Cancer well the poisons we put in our body destroy everthing and well someone that is able to work and hold a job cant seem to find a job to give them a chance because their teeth are missing,, cant smile dont want to dont even want to breath on someone becasue of bad breath due to deteriation on the teeth…i have been to over 10 dentist between texas and colorado and no one is willing to help….you need credit but if your not able to work to pay that bill that is 15,000 to 28,000 for implant…I am willing to be a guinnie pig just so i can get a mouth of teeth to smile and be a happy person that i used to be…Life stinks when you look mad and hateful all the time noone talks to you..You smile and it looks like you were hit with a bat..I am willing to get a job to pay for them just need to be able to have that chance…but no teeth no job.. I hate being stuck inside when my Cancer Is Chronic and it will come and go..But the meds seem to keep me in remission..That means i can work and want to work i just need some teeth…So if there is any Dentist that wants to be a kind soul…Please Help

  37. Tweet DeLeon December 3, 2013 at 2:12 am #

My name is Tweet, I am 46 years old and have gone through two types of cancer, the first type was tongue cancer, and the second was breast cancer (stage 3). I am now in remission of the tongue cancer for over 25 years, and breast cancer for 3 years. My issue is the right side of my mouth. I went through radiation therapy which the focus was towards the right side of my neck (where they found a tumor in my right lymphnoid) and the right side of my tongue (which they removed 10% of my tongue). Because of the radiation therapy my jaw bones have deteriorated and I had to remove all my teeth on the right side of my mouth from the top and bottom. I have an affordable dental plan however there is a limit of $1200 and my procedure will cost me $6564.00 and I cannot afford to come up with this amount. I have been trying to get my teeth fixed for more than 12 years and still haven’t been able to do so due to no money for dental procedure. Please help me or direct me to someone who can, I have no where else to turn and can’t seem to find good help. Thank you for reading my post and I hope for a miracle. God Bless

My husband has been ill for 4 years now. He fell ill 2 weeks after we were married and never recovered…very long story. He went into the hospital in 2010 with a liver and kidney issued and after 4 hospitals he ended up at Northwestern Memorial in Chicago. They literailly saved his life. He was recovering from the issued and was nearing the end of his 18 month treatment when they found in one of his scans he caught a micro bacteria in his lung from one of hi hospital stays. Treatable but another 18 month treatment plus he had to suspend his original treatment for his liver / kidney..oh well prognosis was good for recovery. as he was nearing the end of treatment in July of 2013 he had a scan and they found a spot on his lung…yes..lung cancer(small cell) prognosis..not recoverable..he has had multiple rounds of chemo and it’s not shrinking but not growing very much (but still growing) now, after all the treatments (mostly chemo based ) he has lost most of his teeth, broken off at the gum line and he is very limited in what he can eat. He needs them all pulled and get dentures but while we have dental insurance, as most of them its not very good and we cannot afford the cost after the insurance. Is there anyone who can help him? After all he has been through and now this…we need some help with this 🙁

I’m a single parent of 2 sons and just finished my chemo and radiation treatment for cervical cancer 3-25-2014. I was diagnosed in Dec 2013 and had my biopsys done in Oct 2013 of my cervix and uterus. My cancer treatment was intense and went through chemo, external and internal radiation from 1-13-14 thru 3-25-14. I had a tumor that was 6cm X 6cm which is a massive tumor and apparently had cancer for the last 3-5 years even though my gynecology Dr told me my paps and menstrual cycle was abnormal normal when I was bleeding for 30-90 days at a time. I am also a domestic violence survivor and my smile was taken from me over 20 years ago and I continue to not have self esteem and hate to look at myself in the mirror because I hav a full denture on top and most of my teeth on bottom gone. I keep getting taken advantage of each time I had my top denture made and now have to glue it to the roof of my mouth and make one tooth on the bottom out of glue. I’m on SSDI and have $46,000 in bills for my cancer treatment from Stanford cancer center and can’t afford to fix my teeth. I have been through so much after being beat up by my sons biological father that took my smile away from me then left teeth I couldn’t fix then I found out I had cancer and a massive tumor that was going to kill me if I didn’t get treatment and had so many side effects from chemo and radiation and lost over 25lbs because of it and had some of the worst days I have ever had that all I could think of was to fight so I could be there for my kids and now I can’t even smile or eat or talk without being so embarrassed about my denture falling out or my home made tooth made of glue falls apart. That isn’t the kind of life I wanted to fight for and I need to be able to get back to work after knee replacement surgery to support my kids and I. How can I do this with the way my teeth are now. Please someone help me. Please fairy godmother please help my prayers come true. I know if its GODS WILL then it will happen.

My son is now 19 and is just about 5 years into his survivorship of childhood cancer (Mediastinal Mature B Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

He has issues with his teeth that are beginning to concern me, as it appears the teeth are slowly deteriorating at the gum line – any recommendations on best treatment centers in Albuquerque, New Mexico for Cancer Treatment Dental Problems?

I consider myself very lucky! I have had two different cancers, breast at 19 and a neuroendocrine carcinoid last year during my pregnancy! I am a miracle and my only complaint is that I can’t smile and spread the glee I feel that I’m still here. Because of treatments I’ve lost six teeth and have several others that are in danger of being gone forever. I wear a flipper now for the missing top teeth but shifting and additional complications have made me horribly ashamed of my teeth. I have chronic jaw pain and fear I’ll need total dentures within a few years. I’m 30. I have Medicaid and have been fixing what I can but if feels like every hour I spend in the dentist chair is just a small step forward but because of finances in the time it takes me to save up and afford needed treatment I take several leaps back. I teeth cheerleading and dance to young at risk youth and am struggling as I teach them to smile and be proud of the light the have inside, but I feel mine dimming. If anyone could help reduce my pain and restore my smile I would be forever grateful and excited to play the kindness forward. Thank you dentists and oral surgeons for all you do!

Hello my name is Shakia Melton and I am writing for my mother Vanessa Tyler
She is an amazing mother. She survived breast cancer in 2010. Due to the chemo and radiation she had lots majority teeth in 2011. The denture she has doesn’t fit right and sinks into her mouth. Every time she talks the denture moves showing her gums. Cause of this my mother lost a lot of self-esteem and confident. She lives her life as a hermit with no social life. She does so much for everyone. She helps raise my 5 year old daughter, her granddaughter. She takes her to and from school, while I am out looking for job. She drives my step father to and from work, she get his supplies for work clean and maintain his vending machine. He is illegal blind and the sole bread winner. She not working due the string of very bad luck she had been in a car accident¸ that messed up her back. She can’t stand for more than 20 min. She about to have foot surgery in the next two months and cause of the chemo she has chemo brain. Please if there you can do please help my mother thank you

I have a rare blood cancer, Multiple Myeloma and Amyloidosis which is associated w/ the MM, it attacks vital organs in the body. Neither are curable or operable. I had a stem cell transplant and chemo therapy. I was living out of the country when I learned of the cancer. The country I was in was unable to treat me. I returned to America for treatment, but not before exhausting all of my retirement and forced to go on Social Security too early, in order to get the needed treatment. I am alive, but broke and with no future income from my years of work. My cancer is currently in remission.
I am in need of extensive dental care which Medicare does not pay; buying affordable insurance does not cover the oral surgery needed. I do not have funds to get the dental work done which is several thousand dollars. I have to work at age 66 since I lost my retirement. When I left the foreign country where i was working, I lost the insurance.
I lost my bridge which had three teeth. I am unemployed in the process of searching for a job. My mouth looks awful, unattractive and very unprofessional. I had a job interview yesterday with six administrators, but who would hire me with this raggedy mouth? Again the low insurance is not an option, they would pay a low % of the costs, but I would need several thousand of my own. Dentist do not do in house payment plans. Can anyone help me or direct me to free dental care.
    Thank you,
    Tambura Omoiele

My name is Shelly and I was diagnosed with CML last year. It was so advanced at that point that the Dr.’s tell me it may take a few years to level everything out. One of my biggest problems is that the chemo is killing my teeth. I have no insurance and am on full disability. My medicare won’t even kick in until late next year. I need a real dentist to help me and explain my options in all this. I’m only 44 and the thought of losing my teeth is very scary.

In 2005 I was 25 yr old and began having ear and nasal problems I went to see a ENT and was told I was too old for my adenoids to be removed So I was encouraged to get a second opinion, well long story short the second opinion removed the adenoids and found a large mass and it ended up being
Nasal pharaengyl cancer. I was giveUnfortunatelye max radiation as well as chemo. As a result I have no saliva and my teeth are all dying or falling out. I have no means of paying for any type of implants and my denist thinks that full implants may be my only option. I work a full time job and am a full time single mother of two. Unfortunately that’s my story. I love my children and have very good support from my family but they cannot afford to pay for my teeth. I am still living with them at home with my kids.

Isn’t there anyone in this world that is willing donate funds to help me out. I am a 61 year old woman who needs dental implants inorder to keep my bottom denture in. I don’t have enough bone on my bottom jaw to hold the denture naturally. I have been to two dentists and both have told. Me that this is what I will have to do in order to be able to eat a decent meal. I the past two years I have gone from 197 lbs to 137 lbs. I can no longer chew food properly but I end up swallowing most food partially whole which is causing digestive trouble. I have insurance but insurance doesn’t pay for this type of dental work. How sad this makes me. I am at a loss for what I am going to do…Lord please bless me with someone willing to donate the funds to have the dental implants done. The cost is 24,000. Yes I know that sounds like a lot..I choked when they told me that knowing I had no way to even begin to come up with that kind of money. So Lord if it’s meant to be please Lord let someone who is kind enough contact me. I will be happy to forward the information and the doctors name who needs to be paid …..thank you in advance. I know it’s a lot to ask but my oh my it would be wonderful to be able to chew again.
