Free Cleaning Services for Cancer Patients

The Cancer Fairy Godmother has found yet again another terrific service for cancer patients. That’s right! Cleaning for a reason is a wonderful site dedicated to making your road to recovery easier.

This newly formed nonprofit offers free professional housecleaning services to improve the lives of women undergoing treatment for cancer.

We are temporarily removing this recommendation while we look for a new potential resource for help with cleaning for cancer patients.

I have tried at least 10 times to go to the cancer patient tab at 12:00 noon and fill out an application—unfortunately it is always already full. Are there any other sites or services out there that offer free cleaning or at reduced rates for cancer patients?

    Thank you,

I have serious doubts about this “cleaning for a reason” website. ..this so called charity. How do you know they are legitimate? From my own experience and from the other replies here it seems to me that you should STOP directing people, especially cancer patients to this website. It’s giving false hope because they either don’t offer in that particular area or they are full and give you the message to check back in a few months. Really? ? A few months? We are better off just hiring someone than to wait on a charity that clearly cannot fulfill the high volume of requests.

This service,Cleaning for a Reason, is ONLY FOR WOMEN. Not all Cancer patients. Your son with cancer does NOT qualify just because he is a male. Their reason is that they don’t have funding for everyone and they had to choose who to help. Per their website: Why women only?

We do provide this service only to females with any type of cancer. As with any nonprofit organization, the resources are limited. The demand is always greater than what we are capable of handling regardless as to whom we serve. We understand that males undergo the same life crisis issues; however, we cannot serve everyone. Daily we have inquiries to assist individuals with disabilities, heart problems, MS, asthma and various other chronic medical conditions, which all have a need for the services. Naturally, the list is endless. We hope you understand that we have to stay focused on what we have decided to be our primary mission.

We surely hope that our foundation can help, Dawn. Women battling cancer can apply for free house cleaning at If there’s an available maid service with an opening, she will then be asked to have her Dr. fax in a note stating that she is undergoing cancer treatment. Once approved and matched, she would then receive 4 general house cleanings, that’s one cleaning per month up to 4 months.

Plz note that this is not a guaranteed service and depends on the availability of a local maid service partner WITH an opening. We match by zip code. In other words, each of our maid services defines their service territory through a list of zip codes. If we cannot match a patient with a service at the time of application, it’s still good to have an application on file. We sign up new maid services daily and existing maid service partners, if full (i.e., at capacity with patient load at the time that a patient applies), do open up as well.
